Kim Barber has worked in the motor insurance market since 1970. He has held senior underwriting positions in both Commercial Fleet and Personal Lines motor business - the last 15 years within Lloyd’s. He was appointed Head of Motor Division and a Director to the Board of Chaucer Syndicates Limited in April 2006 having previously held the position of Motor Fleet Director. He was previously Chairman of the Lloyd’s Market Association Motor Underwriting Committee and a member of the Motor Insurers’ Bureau Board.

Ashley started his career as a trainee auditor within the Deloitte and Touche London office in 1985. After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1988, he held various management roles within audit with a wide range of clients from Japanese Security Houses to Animation Companies. In 1991 Ashley transferred to the Corporate Finance team as a Senior Manager where he specialised in due diligence and business valuations. In 1995 he joined the Chaucer Group (then Stewarts Underwriting Agency) as the Financial Controller. In 1998 Ashley relocated to the Group’s Canterbury office to run the accounting function of the motor syndicate. He was promoted to the Divisional Board as Finance Director when it was established in 2000 and in 2005 took control of a number of other “back office” functions for the Divisions.

Pat has worked in the Information Technology sector since 1969, starting at the Orion Insurance Company where, over the years, he held a number of senior positions. Following a number of company take overs he was appointed Head of Information Technology for AXA’s specialist motor operation in the mid 1990s. In 1999 Pat joined the AXA/GRE integration team in Birmingham whose objective was to rationalise the group’s country wide operation. In 2000 he joined Chaucer Insurance as the Divisional IT Director. Pat is also a Director of Chaucer Insurance Services Limited.



Stuart Dickinson

Stuart started his career with the Guardian Royal Exchange Group in 1985 and progressed through a variety of underwriting roles within the Guardian’s Croydon, Maidstone, and London offices. In 1999 Stuart moved to SVB Syndicates at Lloyd’s to launch a Liability Unit focusing on the UK EL and PL for small businesses. In January 2007 Stuart joined Chaucer as the Commercial Development Underwriter to broaden Chaucer’s range of UK retail products, commencing with the Liability Classes. In January 2009 Stuart was promoted to Divisional Head, UK Commercial.

Chris started his insurance career in 1980 as a junior filing clerk at Iron Trades in Middleborough. After four years he moved to Lombard General Insurance and worked in both the Leeds and Manchester offices. In 1989 he became a Personal Lines Inspector at the Independent. Promoted later in the year to the role of High Risk Motor Underwriting Controller he established the Independent’s Non Standard, Motor & Fleet accounts. Chris returned to Lombard General Insurance in 1994 as Motor Underwriting Manager and in 1999 joined Groupama as Non Standard Motor Manager. Chris joined Chaucer Insurance in November 2002, as Deputy Personal Lines Underwriter, was promoted to Personal Lines Underwriter in March 2003, Divisional Underwriter and Development Director for the Motor Division in January 2007 and Head of the Motor Division in January 2009.



Dawn Probert

Dawn joined Chaucer in 2002 as Third Party Claims Manager and was promoted to Divisional Claims Director in 2009. She has over 25 years claims experience having started her career with Dover District Council dealing with highway authority slips and trips. Having progressed through a number of roles with Commercial Union, Albion and Allianz Cornhill she has dealt with the whole spectrum of claims from Property, Liability and Motor to those involving catastrophic injury. She takes a keen interest in training having been a claims lecturer at Cornhill and has participated in a number of strategic projects throughout her career.
